Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer break. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Robbin Stackhouse and I have been teaching science for 32 years. Eighteen of those years have been with CMS. This is my fifth year at Bradley and I am so excited to be here! I look forward to working with you this year and to share my love of science with your child.
My husband Grant and I have been married for 30 years and we have two children, Alex and Erica. They are both graduates of West Mecklenburg High School and East Carolina University. Go Pirates! They both live in Charlotte.
This year we will be studying atmosphere and weather; the human body; cells and Protist; genetics; energy and electricity; and force and motion. We will also emphasize safety and proper lab techniques in our labs. My goal is to get your child excited about science and for them to understand that we are all scientists to some extent every day. I feel that every student can be successful and with your help we can have a productive year.
This year we will be using Discovery Education Techbook online. Students access this through the CMS student portal.
Your student is required to keep a science notebook. They can have a section in a three ring binder or a pocket folder with notebook paper. Please make sure that your student has a pen or pencil every day! Colored pencils and markers are helpful but not required. We can also use paper towels, Band-aides and tissues for the students. Copy paper (plain or colored) is always appreciated!
I am excited to have Miss Anna Wharmby as a student teacher this year from University of Akron through UNCC. She will be with us through December. Her email is [email protected].
If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s progress, please feel free to contact me by email at [email protected] or by phone at 980-343-5750. To schedule a conference contact Mr. Gibson in our guidance department at 980-343-5750. I am available during my planning time from 1:20 – 2:40. I look forward to a wonderful year!
Sincerely, Robbin Stackhouse 7th Grade Science Teacher Francis Bradley Middle School
